CSCRB is an independent non-profit organization affiliated with the international Cancer Support Community/Gilda’s Clubs.  Located on the Redondo Beach Pier, CSCRB serves over 2,000 cancer patients and their loved ones annually in 20,000+ program visits.  We provide psychosocial support and education programs, and mind/body activities all FREE OF CHARGE to anyone touched by a cancer diagnosis.

Summary of Essential Duties:

Reporting directly to the Executive Director/CEO, the Director of Development (DOD) is a front-line fundraiser, responsible for the overall development, management, administration and evaluation of the fund development plan and related activities for CSCRB. 

Educational Requirements:  BS/BA degree or equivalent job experience preferred.

Position Requirements:

Minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising experience, with proven ability to meet fundraising goals in a non-profit environment. 

A track-record of successful grant writing and research.

Excellent verbal, phone and written communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with senior staff, board members, volunteers and donors.  Must have a high-level of personal integrity and passion for the organization’s mission.

Highly effective organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines, with keen attention to detail.  Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven non-profit environment. 

Knowledge of the primary communities CSCRB serves is desired:  beach cities (up to El Segundo); Torrance and surrounding areas;  Palos Verdes Peninsula;  Los Angeles harbor area;  and, the Los Angeles area philanthropic communities.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and donor database experience.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that could include occasional nights/or weekend work.

Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance required.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 25 pounds.

Additional Skills Desired:

Ability to use multimedia/social media communications (ie, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) is a plus.

Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills are desired.

Skill in non-profit operations is also highly desirable.

Commensurate with experience.
